Bailey’s Hopin Hollands Rabbitry Care & Information Sheet
Holland lops are the sweetest breed of bunnies (at least we think so!) They're very affection and love attention. It is very important to hold/pet your bunny at least once a day to insure they become familiar with you. Holland Lops are the smallest of the lop eared breed weighing between 3-4lbs. The lifespan for Holland lops is between 7-10 years so make sure you are fully ready to add this furry friend to the family.
Diet: Holland lops diets should consist of 80% good quality hay, 10% pellets, 5% healthy treats, and 5% veggies. They need a fresh supply of hay at all times. The more hay the better! Holland lops shouldn't eat any fruits or veggies until 4 months of age. Never feed cereals, bread, corn, seeds or nuts. These are high fat or high carbohydrates items can cause digestive upset in bunnies. Holland lops drink lots and lots of water, so please provide them with fresh clean water every day.
We feed all our Hollands Kruse Brand pellets, along with Top Quality Timothy Hay. A small bag of pellets will bent home with you to help transition your bunny.
Basic Care:
Holland lops are very easy to potty train as they like to poo/pee in one place. They will show you their favorite spot, just be patient! You can then provide them with a litter box by placing it in their spot and they will start to use the box almost immediately.
Holland lops require attention! They will get bored and chew chew chew, so it’s very important to give them toys to play with. Maybe even another bun to play with! Holland lops teeth never stop growing! So provide them with chew toys. Our buns have multiple toys in each of their cages to help their teeth. Holland lops HATE the heat. If you’re going to be keeping your bun outside and it’s hot out, please bring them in. If it’s hotter than 80 degrees outside, and you cannot bring them inside you need to provide your bunny with a frozen water bottle and a fan or they will overheat. Their nails need to be trimmed roughly every 4 weeks. You can fix your new bunny at 4 months of age
Bunnies DO NOT get bathed. They bathe themselves, and it's quite adorable so you can check that of your to-do list! Don't be afraid to take your bun with you, the more socialized they are the better pet they will be.
